THE FAMILY of teen murder victim Samantha Madgin's has been hit by a second tragedy.
The young mum's uncle Gary Madgin, 41, of Burn Avenue, Forest Hall, was killed in a road accident on Monday night.
Mr Madgin lost control of his Ford Transit van and hit a central reservation on the A19 at 8.30pm.
Samantha, 18, was stabbed to death in a street in Wallsend on August 2 on her first night out since her son, Callum, was born.
She was confronted in a back-lane disturbance involving two groups after she had gone to Albert Avenue, Wallsend, with friends.
Her uncle died in the accident around half a mile north of the junction with the A1056 Killingworth Lane.
The road was closed for five hours in both directions, between the Moor Farm roundabout and Killingworth Lane, while emergency services attended to the incident.
A police spokesman said: "At 8.30pm on Monday we received a report of a one-vehicle road traffic collision.
"For reasons yet to be established, a Ford Transit motor vehicle travelling southbound on the A19 has left the carriageway on the off-side and collided with the central barrier.
"As a result of the collision, a 41-year-old male, died.
"We want to establish how the van which was travelling in one direction has flipped over and crossed to the other side."
Anyone with information about the accident should contact North Tyneside motor patrols on 08456 043 043.
A teenage girl has been charged with Samantha's murder.
The 15-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was also charged with affray in connection with the incident.
Two men, Terrence Davidson, 18, and David Kerr, 35, both from Walker, Newcastle, have also appeared in court charged with affray.
