A TOWN has been awarded Fairtrade Borough status and a roadshow is hitting the streets to spread the word.
Stockton Borough Council, businesses, residents and community groups all worked to achieve the targets to be granted the status.
Next Monday, the Fairtrade trailer will be in Billingham, from 10am until 3pm, and people will be able to obtain information about Fairtrade products.
The tour then heads to Stockton town centre on Wednesday, August 22, from 10am until 3pm. Stockton town hall will host an event, from 1.30pm to 2.30pm, to celebrate gaining Fairtrade status.
Ayshe Babur, from Goldleaf Cafe, will share her Fairtrade experience and talk about how Newtown Community Resource Centre has produced a winning Fairtrade recipe, which will be published in a book next year.
The roadshow will head to Thornaby, on Thursday, August 23, from 10am until noon.
There are 38 businesses across the borough selling at least two Fairtrade products and 22 retail outlets.
