A HUMANIST who was inspired by a visit to Africa has helped raise more than £3,000 for a school in Uganda.
Barry Berkley, chairman of the North-East Humanists, visited the Isaac Newton School, in Uganda, in December last year.
Moved by what he saw, he began gathering donations for the school.
The money will be used to pay for schooling for 25 orphans or deprived children.
Mr Berkley said: "This will make a real difference to these children's lives. We are so happy to be able to help out.
