A MAN was attacked and sexually assaulted by two others as he walked along a city centre street in the early hours of the morning.
He was pushed into an alleyway, physically and sexually assaulted and robbed of his wallet in the incident early on Sunday.
And police in York are now appealing for help from the public in tracking down the two attackers.
The incident happened between 1am and 3am on High Ousegate in York, in an alleyway between the Danish Kitchen and the former Burger King outlet.
At the time the city centre was still busy with revellers having a night out at late-night pubs and clubs.
In the wake of the attack police sealed off the area while forensic experts carried out a detailed examination of the scene.
The victim, who was aged 40, was interviewed by specially-trained police officers to help piece together what happened.
One of the attackers was described as in his 20s, of stocky build and with dark bushy hair. He spoke with what sounded like a foreign accent. No description of the second man has yet been issued.
Police are now appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time of the attack, or who has any information about it, to contact York CID on 0845 6060 247.
