INSPECTORS have given the go-ahead for a hugely popular summer show at the end of this month.
The recent dry weather has resulted in Preston Park in Eaglescliffe, Stockton, being almost dried out, and Stockton Council's grounds maintenance team have been given the green light to reinstate the damaged areas to the park.
Some parts are still damp, but a council spokesman said the main field was drying out well and the long- range weather forecast was favourable.
Stockton Summer Show takes place from Friday, August 24 until Monday, August 27, with family entertainment each day.
Tickets are £3 for adults and £1.50 for children and the over 60s, with children under five and wheelchair-users go free.
Advanced family tickets are available from the Environment Centre, West Row, offering a one-day ticket at £6 and four-day tickets at £15, which covers two adults and two children, or one adult and three children.
Councillor Mary Womphrey, Stockton Council's cabinet member for arts, leisure and culture, said: "Things were looking a bit doubtful for the show following all the rain at the end of June and early July, but we are all very pleased that it now looks as though the event will be able to go ahead as planned."
