AN amateur art exhibition was held in north Durham over the weekend.
Members of two creative classes held at Blackhill Community Centre, near Consett, had their work on show on Saturday.
The pictures were created using pencil, charcoal, watercolour, oil and acrylics by people of all ages living in the surrounding area.
Liz Lowery, who takes the still-life painting and drawing classes, said: "It was quite well attended and we were pleased with how many people turned up.
"The group comprises people who are absolute beginners to those who have been using art as an outlet for more than 30 years, so some of the work was okay but some of it was exceptional.
"The students put a lot of effort into putting on the show. They did everything including mounting their work so they learned about exhibiting art as well as executing it."
A ten-week course resumes at the centre during the week commencing September 17 and new members will be welcome.
