FIREFIGHTERS were sent on an unusual rescue mission when they were called to free four seagulls from a pub roof.
North Yorkshire fire and rescue were called to the Lord Nelson pub on Foreshore Road, Scarborough at 10.45am on Saturday after reports that the birds had become trapped in netting.
When the firefighters got onto the top of the roof two of the birds were found to have died.
The two other birds were freed.
