RESIDENTS of Hambleton are strolling their way to good health by taking part in organised walks in the district.
The Hambleton Strollers has a packed programme of walks in Northallerton, Stokesley, Easingwold, Bedale and Thirsk.
The group was set up four years ago for the Walking to Health initiative, led by the Countryside Agency, councils, voluntary bodies and the primary care trusts. It promotes walking to improve health.
The walks are suitable for people who do little or no exercise, but active people are also welcome.
They all last less than an hour, are on reasonable level ground and are free.
On Monday, the group will meet for a walk at the Health Centre, Great Ayton. On Tuesday, members will meet at Mowbray House Surgery, Northallerton. The group meets at the Galtres Centre, Easingwold, on Wednesday. The walks start at 10.30am.
Details can be found at www.hambleton.gov.uk, or by calling Jane Wirral on 01609-771624. Leaflets listing the walks can be collected from doctors' surgeries, libraries, leisure centres, the volunteer bureaux, tourist centres and district council offices.
