A MAN has been arrested in connection with a cannabis farm discovered by police in County Durham.
Thousands of pounds worth of cannabis plants and equipment were seized by police in the raid on a terraced house in Wesley Street, Willington, at about 8am on Thursday morning.
No-one was in the property at the time of the raid.
Police say the man they arrested is from the Willington area and is tonight in custody helping them with their enquiries.
Neighbours who had noticed a strange smell notified the police who swooped on the terraced house finding the farm in two first-floor bedrooms.
A total of 106 plants, worth about £1,000 each, were taken to Crook police station.
Sergeant Shaun Davis said it was a very sophisticated operation.
He said: "The two upstairs bedrooms had their windows boarded up and were equipped with special ventilation, lighting and watering systems, "In addition we found a large packet of cannabis leaves in readiness to be shipped out."
