ENGLAND star Sue Smith will join the girls at Teesside Athletic FC for their girls only soccer camp.
In recognition of World Cup Week North Riding County FA has launched a Girls Soccer Skills Road Show at different venues around the county. Delivered by the FA Skills Coaches team, the week of August 11-18 is dedicated to providing opportunities for girls who've never played, to get in to football.
Teesside Athletic's soccer camp is one of the three girls only events planned in York, Scarborough and Teesside as part of the road show.
Open to all ages, the camp aims to develop young players and increase participation in girls football; a sport which has now fully established itself as the most popular in England.
Leeds United and England star Sue Smith is making a guest appearance at the camp promoting England's current World Cup campaign. Although preparing to depart to China very soon Sue has dedicated a day to meet the campers and inspire more girls to get in to football.
Throughout the day the newly established FA skills coaches team will be working along side the club's coaches delivering skills competitions and games and a World Cup tournament for the girls to show off their improved skills.
North Riding County FA's Women and Girls Football Development Officer, Emily Toase said: "The girls only camp is a great opportunity to have fun, develop your skills and learn some new ones.
"Girls football is the fastest growing sport in England and with the Womens World Cup coming up, there's no better time to get into football."
With other girls football activities planned in York and Scarborough, August looks set to be a lively month, with plenty of opportunities for girls to participate in football. For more details contact Kevin Fryett on 07709982114.
