A BUSINESSWOMAN has devised a guide to cleaner, greener living.
The Green Guide to Harrogate, written by Jane Barrett, contains useful hints and advice on how to reduce waste and reuse and recycle items.
Ms Barrett came up with idea after experiencing the frustration of wanting to help the environment but not knowing how.
She began to research eco-friendly schemes in Harrogate and discovered she could can get a local box of vegetables delivered to her door, get old trainers recycled and get refills for her washing up liquid bottle.
After 18 months she turned her life around, selling her successful career consultancy and setting up The Good Earth Company in her garden shed.
At the launch of the leaflet there will be free hand-baked cup cakes, complimentary drinks and the opportunity to buy the guide and find out about how to live a cleaner, greener lifestyle.
There will be children's activities, a gardeners' question time and a variety of stalls selling eco-friendly products.
"'I am not your normal tree hugger, quite the opposite," said Ms Barrett. "I have to admit my environmental halo is pretty tarnished, but I am trying to clean up my act."
The Green Guide to Harrogate will be launched on August 19 at the Allotment Show, Sun Pavilions, Harrogate, from 11am to 4.30pm. Entry is free.
