FOUR North Yorkshire destinations have been named as finalists in the newest category of a tourism award.
York, Whitby, the Yorkshire Dales and Harrogate have been shortlisted in the visitor destination of the year section of the Yorkshire Tourist Board's White Rose Awards.
Bridlington in East Yorkshire, takes up the last place in the final.
The category is a collaboration between the tourist board and Encams, the charity behind Keep Britain Tidy.
David Andrews, chief executive of tourist board, said: "This new category rewards locations that are engaged in or are developing tourism in a way that highlights the uniqueness of the place, maximises benefits to the whole community, is appropriate to the location's physical characteristics and can be sustained into the future."
The winner will be announced on September 11, along with the winners of the 16 others categories in the White Rose Awards, at a ceremony in Rotherham.
