A TEENAGE golfer has won both the junior and senior championships at his club for the second year running.
Jon-Paul Gilbert, 19, from Kip Hill, Stanley, won his fourth title at Hobson Golf Club, near Burnopfield.
He plays the 70 par course with a handicap of one and broke the juniors' record by finishing in 65 shots in one round.
Jon-Paul beat Davey Stokes in the club championship on Sunday, with rounds of 67 and 69. He said: "It was a good battle and close right until the end, but I pipped him on the 18th. The older guys here are very supportive and really friendly."
The former St Bede's sixth former is currently working at a Wetherspoon's pub in Consett, but his ambition is to become an apprentice professional with a North-East club.
He said: "I would like anyone interested in taking me on to get in touch through the club."
