YOUNG people are hoping to bring a new lease of life to an east Durham community garden.
Members of the Positive Future programme are transforming the grounds of the Salvation Army citadel, in Horden.
The group has already joined forces with Horden Regeneration Partnership, the Salvation Army and the district's Pride in Easington team pick litter at the site.
The organisation is planning a coffee morning and fun day on Wednesday to help raise cash for the project.
The event, which will take place in the grounds between 11am and 2pm, will include children's activities, a photographic exhibition and information on neighbourhood issues.
Michael Fishwick, project manager for Horden Regeneration Partnership said: "We want to raise money to improve the garden and therefore encourage more people to use it.
"We also want to raise awareness."
