A GROUP that campaigns for peace is going strong 25 years after it was founded.

Durham Peace Action Group wants Britain to phase out nuclear weapons and an end to the arms trade, and promotes peace in schools.

Members recently met Defence Secretary Des Browne to discuss replacing Britain's Trident nuclear missiles.

Heather Speight, from the group, said: "It may be thought that the peace movement is about nostalgia and history, but it is more relevant than ever that we find other ways of solving our problems."
