YOUNGSTERS are being given the chance to learn how to stay safe around water.
Hambleton Leisure Centre, in Northallerton, is hosting a lifesaving and first aid course this month, aimed at youngsters aged ten and over.
The five day course - approved by the Royal Lifesaving Society - is based on the Rookie Lifeguard programme.
It will teach the children water safety, how to stay safe around water and how to carry out rescues, as well as basic first aid and resuscitation techniques.
The course, from August 20 to 24, costs £34.95. Places can be booked through Hambleton Leisure Centre on 01609-777070.
