A NEIGHBOURHOOD with true community spirit has rallied together to provide children with school holiday entertainment.
For the third year in a row, people living in the Wynyard Estate, in Chester-le-Street, have arranged and funded a fun day.
Hayley Jefferson, who organised the fun day with Paula Forsythe, said. "We take turns each year to organise the event.
"All the parents chip in and we put the money together for food and entertainment.
"This year, we have hired a bouncy castle and swimming pool, provided drinks and refreshments for the children, and held a barbecue."
More than 25 children, aged from two to 15, took part.
Miss Jefferson said: "It has become a bit of an institution here.
"We will be holding a similar event next year."
