FORMER members of a cricket club in Teesdale are being invited to help take part in a double celebration later this month.
Barnard Castle Cricket Club will mark its 175th year, plus the opening of new changing rooms.
The club has been based at its ground, next to the cattle mart, for more than 150 years
Club chairman John Walker said: "Getting new changing rooms was a priority and, thanks to a £41,000 grant, we have."
As well as first and second elevens, the club has five junior teams.
Mr Walker added: "We have had tremendous support from both the townspeople and organisations in the town. They have backed our efforts to provide junior cricket and on our coaching nights we regularly get over 100 youngsters turning up."
The club is aware of about 150 former members who have played for it in the past 30 years.
Anyone wanting to find out more about the celebrations, which will be held on Friday, August 31, should call Rod Hesp on 01833-690308.
