COUNCILLORS are to vote on plans which would see 50 jobs created on a retail park.
A planning application has been lodged to create a mezzanine floor at the B&Q store on Durham City Retail Park.
The DIY retailer currently occupies only part of the site, with the rest vacant after Morrisons withdrew plans to open a food store.
Now national chain Go Outdoors has expressed an interest in opening an outlet within the unit and an application has been submitted to open a mezzanine floor of just under 1400 square metres to display tents and camping equipment.
Up to 50 jobs would be created, including a mixture of full and part time posts.
Members of Durham County Council’s Area Planning Committee (Central and East) will debate the application when they meet at County Hall in Durham on Tuesday, January 9.
