A VILLAGE without a central point has celebrated the anniversary of a building which helps bring it together.
Kirby Sigston, near Northallerton, is made up of widely dispersed households with its church and village hall almost a mile apart.
Its village hall underwent an extensive refurbishment a decade ago and villagers came together to mark the anniversary of those essential works.
The anniversary open day featured a display of old pictures of the village and visitors included Kirby Sigston resident MP Rishi Sunak.
Mr Sunak’s predecessor William Hague had performed the re-opening honours after the 20007 refurbishment.
Robin Harker, village hall committee chairman, said: “We are very proud of our hall, it’s small but perfectly formed. All sorts of activities take place there, from domino drives to belly-dancing classes.”
