A NATIONAL health and beauty store is set to open on a popular out-of-town shopping park tomorrow.

Superdrug is taking over the vacant premises left by Brantano on the Bishop Auckland Retail Park , in St Helen Auckland.

The new store will create 19 new jobs.

In addition to the range of products, including Superdrug’s cruelty free own brand range, the store will also offer a brow bar beauty service. No booking is necessary and prices start from £7. A nail bar will also be opening in the store this Autumn, with prices starting from £10 for an express file and polish.

Jane Dixon, Superdrug Bishop Auckland store manager, said, “We’re looking forward to welcoming customers to the new store. We’re excited to be joining a range of retailers in the shopping park and being able to offer customers beauty services is great.

“Customers will be able to get a quick beauty treatment when they visit the store while also picking up everyday essentials and cosmetics at unbeatable prices.”

The company previously had a store in Bishop Auckland Town Centre but this closed last year - becoming the latest in a long line of national shops to leave the high street.

Included in this list is Home Bargains and Marks and Spencer which have both opened on Bishop Auckland Retail Park.

Elsewhere in the town centre Beales department store closed at Christmas but in recent years McDonald’s, Mothercare, Gamestation, Thorntons, Millets and Internacionale have all closed.

The St Helen Auckland store will open at 8am tomorrow.
