A 65-YEAR-OLD man has died after being kicked by a horse at the weekend.
A Durham Police spokesman confirmed the man, of Woodland, Teesdale, was attending a trotting event in Stirling, Scotland, when he was kicked in the chest.
He said: "The incident happened in Scotland, on Sunday, September 3.
"The gentleman had attended a trotting event in Stirling where he was kicked by a horse in the chest and subsequently died."
The man's family have been informed.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman confirmed an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
She said: “Police in Forth Valley are investigating following the death of a 65-year-old man at a horse riding event at a farm in Stirling.
“The incident happened around noon on Sunday, September 3, when the man was struck by a horse.
“He was taken to Forth Valley Royal Hospital for treatment, however he sadly passed away a short time later.
“The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
