A 17-YEAR-OLD cyclist is in a critical condition after he was involved in a collision with a black Fiat Punto in the early hours of Sunday morning.
A woman in her 40s, who was driving the car, was arrested for drink driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving. She remains in police custody.
The collision happened at around 12.10am on Cargo Fleet Lane, Middlesbrough.
The teenager, who was riding a BMX bike, suffered serious injuries and was taken to James Cook University Hospital.
Any witnesses to the incident or anyone who helped at the scene is asked to contact Cleveland and Durham Specialist Operations Unit on the non-emergency number 101, quoting event number 159024.
