A LADIES group has proved so popular that it is expanding for a second time.

The community interest group Pimms and Needles has already proved a success in Hurworth, near Darlington and Aycliffe Village and will be launching at The Hub, in Barnard Castle, on Thursday, September 7.

The monthly groups were founded by Charlotte Pyrah and Donna Feeney who host events for like-minded women with everything from sewing to Laughter Yoga and Murder Mystery evenings on the menu.

Ms Feeney said many members said the groups were great for their mental health as well as a being a good way to meet new people.

"We love that everyone comes to our groups with an open mind and willing to try something new” Ms Pyrah added. “Its always a friendly atmosphere at our groups, everyone takes turns helping with the washing up and bringing cakes along to share.”

The groups now have more than 250 members and more groups have been planned for the Durham, Teesside and North Yorkshire areas.

The free launch for the Barnard Castle group will be held between 7pm and 9pm, where there will be entertainment and a clothes swish (swap).
