SHOPPERS found themselves in the middle of a 25th birthday party today.
Those visiting Darlington's Cornmill Shopping Centre were invited to join in the festivities as staff celebrated a milestone anniversary.
The centre marked its 25th anniversary with a series of family-friendly activities throughout Bank Holiday Monday.
Candy-floss and cakes were consumed by countless customers as youngsters enjoyed creative play sessions at the busy centre.
Children's entertainers Professor Brian and Marilyn Llewellyn were also on hand to ensure the event was enjoyed by all.
Centre manager Susan Young, who has worked at the Cornmill Shopping Centre for 23 years, said the day of celebration reflected the team's ambition to provide a family-friendly environment for shoppers.
She added: "The centre has reached a great milestone and we have had brilliant support from the community over the years.
"It's been absolutely lovely to see all of the customers come out and support us.
"Judging by the smiles on everyone's faces, it's been a great day for all."
