SOLDIERS at a passing out parade in Catterick Garrison created history by becoming the first to pass off in a newly-created division.
And to mark the occasion a senior general and an historic Scottish band joined the first Scottish, Welsh and Irish Division parade in Helles Barracks at the Infantry Training Centre which saw a total of 56 soldiers complete their combat infantrymen’s course.
The parade completes six months’ training and allows them to take their place with their regiment of choice and join a platoon which is ready to deploy on operations anywhere in the world.
The soldiers were members of the new Scottish, Welsh and Irish Division Training Company which was created in April this year.
Major General Nick Borton, General Officer Commanding the 3rd (UK) Division, congratulated the soldiers on an excellent parade and said they were a credit to all their staff and instructors.
Music was provided by the Pipes and Drums of the Royal Scots Borderers, The Royal Regiment of Scotland.
