AN HISTORIC spectacle is being promised by organisers of a North-East multi-period extravaganza set to kick off this week.
Frontline Sedgefield returns to the region at the weekend complete with living history displays of soldiers from the Vikings and Romans through to the English Civil War, First and Second World Wars to the present day.
The three-day starts on Friday, for schools only, and opens to the public at Hardwick East Park, Sedgefield, on Saturday and Sunday at 10am.
As well as living history displays delivered by re-enactors from across the country, including weaponry and combat skill, there will be a show of military vehicles and a mass tank battle
A spokesperson said: “From large scale demonstrations in the central arena to one-to-one chats at the period living history camps, visitors will be able to see the clothing, food and equipment of soldiers and civilians of each period and talk to those who wear, eat and use them.”
The event closes at 5pm on Saturday and 4.30pm on Sunday.
