ONE of County Durham’s most famous castles is in the running to be crowned most popular in 2017.
Raby Castle, near Staindrop, is one of 12 finalists in the HolidayLettings.co.uk competition and voting ends at midnight on June 20.
The castle was built in the 14th century by the Neville family and is now a popular visitor destination.
