A MUSEUM has teamed up with Darlington Building Society ahead of a new exhibition this summer.

The Bowes Museum, in Barnard Castle, Teesdale, is working with the Society for Clockwork Garden, an immersive and interactive show from the national children’s arts charity, The House of Fairy Tales.

The exhibition, which opens in July and runs until November, begins with a festival of art and creativity on July 30 and 31.

And to make sure the experience is open to all, the Society has contributed towards a family accessibility programme.

Clockwork Garden is set to be the Museum’s biggest family draw since Toy Tales, bringing families from far and wide to delve further into this fantastical story with a Clockwork Garden adventure trail, illustrated maps, tasks and creative challenges.

The Society’s support will also benefit members of a young parent group run by Barnard Castle YMCA, which is already up and running at the Museum.

Sir Mark Wrightson, Chairman of The Bowes Museum’s Board of Trustees, said: “We are delighted to have Darlington Building Society as our main exhibition partner in this summer’s programme, and we very much look forward to working with them in this, our 125th anniversary year, and beyond.”

Society CEO, Colin Fyfe, said: “The Bowes Museum is an incredible attraction in the North-East. The museum should be something the area is proud of, and we at Darlington Building Society are thrilled to be a partner for the summer programme.”

“We wanted to ensure everyone has the opportunity to visit over the summer months, so helping with the accessibility programme felt the right thing to do. We are also pleased we are able to help the parent group and hope that this enables the group to continue for the foreseeable future”.
