A TEESSIDE pub is to host a charity art auction.

Proceeds from the ‘Purquoise’ event, which will feature award winning artists and professional photographers, will go to local mental health charity, Middlesbrough and Stockton Mind.

It is taking place at O’Grady’s Hotel in Redcar on Saturday July 1.

Redcar resident Sarah Jane Ashcroft set up Purqouise Day as an annual event held every year on October 22 to remember young people who died young by wearing purple or turquoise.

She lost her daughter Bobbie, aged just 23.

She said: "This cause is very personal to me, my family and friends. We are hoping other families who have experienced the loss of a young person will join with us to celebrate their loved ones and help raise awareness."

The art is available to be viewed on the website, purquoise.uk and bids can be placed prior to the event, with the free-entry auction starting at 1pm.

An evening of entertainment will follow the auction, from 7pm, and include food, live music, a raffle and a remembrance tree. Tickets are £5 and can be purchased from the website.
