A PAINTING by a Ripon student has been selected from hundreds of submissions for a prestigious national exhibition at two locations in London.
Emma Beaumont's oil painting of the Gare du Nord in Paris will sit alongside only 21 other works at the National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies/Royal Society of British Artists exhibition next year.
Emma painted the 28cm x 37cm artwork while she was still a student at Ripon Grammar School. She is now studying architecture at Sheffield University.
The school’s head of art, Fiona Henson, said: "The art department was delighted to receive notification that Emma's artwork has been selected for the NADFAS/RBA exhibition. It is truly well-deserved and very exciting.”
The painting has now been collected from the school by NADFAS's regional representative ready for framing and delivery to London in time for the exhibition.
Initially it will be on display at the Lloyds building and later at NADFAS House on The Mall.
NADFAS is a leading arts charity which works to advance decorative and fine arts education and appreciation, alongside promoting the conservation of the country's artistic heritage.
