MORE than 100 anti-Islam protesters marched through the streets of Darlington on Saturday but were met by a larger group of anti-fascist supporters in the town centre.
The march, organised by the Bishop Auckland Against Islam, brought the area to a standstill as they made their way from Skinnergate to the town centre.
A counter protest had set up outside the Boot and Shoe pub to await the arrival of the anti-Islam marchers.
There was a heavy police presence in the town but the protests appeared to pass off without incident.
