FIRE-fighters rescued two people after unattended candles started a blaze at a house tonight.
Crews were called to Honister Place in the Lemington area of Newcastle at around 8.15pm.
The fire had broken out in the living room of the property and filled the house with smoke.
Four fire-fighters went into the property and rescued a 33-year-old woman and a 42-year-old man.
Both were treated on the scene and refused hospital treatment.
There was fire damage to the living room of the house.
