STUDENTS at Bedale High School played their part in the annual three-mile Race for Life, held in Darlington at the weekend, to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
Nineteen pupils acted as marshalls in the finishing area and distributed medals, goody bags and bottles of water to runners.
All have enrolled in the level 2 award in community sports leadership, due to start in September at the school.
Martyn Coombs, head of PE at Bedale and level 2 tutor, said: "Most of the students went to Darlington with an open mind, simply to help with a worthwhile event.
"By the end of the day, all the students were touched in some way. It brought home the magnitude of the fight to beat cancer."
