Sarah Borwell, originally of Nunthorpe, Middlesbrough bowed out of the French Open Qualifying event May 23.

The current world number 231 and British number 5 lost to the Canadian Stephanie Dubois who is ranked 82 places higher in the World Rankings.

Although disappointed with the loss Borwell positively concluded, "This was my first outing on clay for a number of years and the difference in the surface is massive! Playing Stephanie who has played her last 5 out of 6 tournaments on the surface was always going to be tough. However, I enjoyed the experience and to be back competing again and am looking forward to the preparation for the grass court season."

The Cheltenham based player will now travel back to the UK to prepare for the build up to the Wimbledon Championships in June / July. There she will be looking at improving her second round appearance in last year's competition. This was where she beat the then World Ranked 66th player, Marta Domachowska before losing to Ana Ivanovic in the next round.
