If you're going to win for the first time in seven games, it can't be more enjoyable than to do it against the top team - that's what Benwell and Walbottle achieved when they met Tynedale.

The shock of the day came when they were set to score 239 and against all the odds they managed it. Tynedale's Scott Kay (87) and Simon Prudhoe (66) might have thought they had put the game beyond the reach of their opponents but Anarud Singh had other ideas.

He hit an unbeaten 104 and with the help of Simon Cook (48) Benwell passed the target with four wickets to spare.

Tynedale stay top but only by a single point from Lintz whose exciting early season form included their fifth win to become the only side unbeaten. They gained the distinction when they inflicted the first defeat of the season on Swalwell who they bowled out for 125. Stuart Clennell (4-26) and Michael Edmunds (3-36) put a tight grip on the home team before Richard McVitie (38 not out) took Lintz to a seven-wicket victory.

Swalwell's defeat allowed Leadgate, who won at Sacriston, to move into third.

With David Anderson smashing a superb 116 to add to his two wickets when the home side reached 195-8. Paul Shield's half century for the hosts set the tone but there was no stopping the clinical Anderson as he hit the Sacriston bowlers to every part of the ground.

Bottom club Percy Main remain in relegation trouble after losing to one of their closest rivals, Morpeth. Mohtashim Ali gave Main early hope with a half century but Ben Maxted (69) got Morpeth's response onto the right wavelength and they came out winners by four wickets.
