YOUNGSTERS are to receive some personal training to get them fit for Healthy Lifestyle Week this month.

Bannatyne's Health Club, in Coulby Newham, Middlesbrough, has teamed up with Chandlers Ridge Primary School, in Nunthorpe, to help promote healthy living among the children.

Fitness instructors from the health club will be visiting the school to deliver a series of boxercise classes during the week, which runs from June 11 to 15.

The school has also organised a full programme of other fitness activities and lifestyle ssessions

Ranging from healthy cooking sessions to fitness games, the week has been designed to raise awareness of the importance of living a healthy lifestyle.

Pupils will also get the chance to take part in Try Something New - a tasting session featuring unusual foods - along with a food standards road show

The school's Lindsay Sidgwick, who helped organise the Healthy Lifestyle Week programme, said: "We appreciate the support and expertise Bannatyne's has offered us, and we are looking forward to a very active and fun week.

"Our pupils are already getting excited about the activities we have arranged for them, and I hope they have an impact on the way they live their lives now, and in the future."

Chris Felstead, general manager of the health club, said: "Living a healthy lifestyle should start at a young age and, with the support of pro-active schools like Chandlers Ridge, pupils can be put on the right track.

"The commitment to exercise and healthy living will then extend out of the classroom and the sports field into the home, as young people impress on their parents how they are being shown the best way to live their lives."
