A DAY centre helper has retired after 27 years.
Doris Heald began helping at the Hutton Rudby Day Care Centre in 1980, when it was started by Dr Gordon Ryder.
Last week, she was given a potted hydrangea by the centre's treasurer, David Rossiter, to mark her retirement. The day centre meets every Wednesday, in Church House, from 10am to 3pm. For a small weekly fee, free transport and a two-course cooked lunch are provided.
