YOUNG swimmers from Thirsk beat off stiff competition to take third place in a national competition.
The White Horse Swim Team members took part in the Postal Swim - an annual event organised by the British Long Distance Swimming Association.
Swimmers compete at their own pools and then send their results to the association.
Swimming as a team, Thirsk's 12 to 13-year-old girls - Annabel Crewdson, Jessica Millar and Kayleigh Easton - swam 11,250 metres in an hour to be placed third in the national league table.
The national results will be collated with others from around the world, with results later this month.
