THE region's most senior clergyman is urging people to become members of a new millionaire's club - by giving some money away.
The Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu, was the first person to sign up for the Minster Million yesterday.
Through the scheme to help York Minster, a donation of £5 or more will secure a uniquely-numbered certificate
One million are being printed and holders will be identified as having helped to secure the cathedral's future.
The project aims to both restore the spectacular East Front of the minster.
Dr Sentamu said: "Many people dream of becoming a member of the millionaires' club. Well this is their chance."
Minster Million certificates will be available from Tuesday, from the Chapter House in the minster. More details are available at www.yorkminster.org
