FOOTBALL-MAD Matthew Chesney's dream will come true when he steps out at the new Wembley stadium as an England mascot.
The 11-year-old has been chosen from thousands of hopefuls to walk out with the players when England play Brazil tomorrow night.
The Teesside schoolboy said that one of the most exciting things would be meeting his hero, David Beckham.
He said he was thrilled Beckham had been asked to rejoin the squad in the friendly match, the national team's first at its new home, and predicted he would score England's first goal with a trademark free-kick.
Matthew, who lives in Ingleby Barwick, near Stockton, said: "I am really excited. I could not believe it when I was picked.
"I am really looking forward to coming out with the players. I do not know who I will be paired with yet, but I would really like David Beckham. If I can't be with him, I would like to be with (Frank) Lampard or John Terry."
Matthew, a defender for Coulby Newham Under-12s B team, said: "I don't know what I'm going to say to them, though. It has just made it so good having David Beckham back."
Matthew's mother, Sue, father, Simon, and sister, Lucy, are all going to London for the weekend for the big occasion.
Mrs Chesney said Matthew and her husband were members of the England Supporters' Club and regularly attended England games.
She said Matthew, who attends Conyers School, in Yarm, entered a competition to be a mascot on the supporters' club website, and won after he answered a question correctly.
She said they have been asked to arrive at Wembley three hours before kick-off so Matthew can attend a reception with the other mascots and be presented with a new England strip.
After walking out with the team, he will join his family in the stand for the match, which he said would finish 2-2.
Mrs Chesney said: "He is a big Boro fan and was a mascot for Boro in 2003, but is very excited about going to the new Wembley stadium.
"I am really proud of him. I think I will definitely have tears in my eyes when he comes walking out. It is going to be a big moment for him, I am sure."
