AN 82-year-old man convicted for drink-driving is thought to be one of the oldest people in the country to be electronically tagged.
John Burns, from Stockton-on-Tees, was fitted with the device - normally used on burglars and yobs - and put under curfew after being caught driving while disqualified twice in the space of seven weeks.
Teesside Magistrates Court ordered the pensioner to obey a house curfew between 8pm and 8am every day for six months, until November 1.
The court heard how Burns was stopped by police driving his Kia Picanto on Tithe Road, Stockton, on March 8 this year.
Tests showed he had 115mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood. The legal limit is 80.
