A FARMER has resubmitted plans to raise £200,000 to restore a Tudor banqueting hall.
Hambleton District Council refused planning permission for David Robinson to build a detached house on his land at Sutton Howgrave, near Bedale, last year.
He wanted to sell the land, with planning permission, to pay for renovation work on the Grade-II listed banqueting house close to his home, Sutton Howgrave Hall.
The building would then be turned into holiday lets.
Councillors said there was not enough evidence that the funds raised from the sale of the land would be exclusively spent on the restoration.
Council planning officer John Howe has recommended that the plans be granted conditional permission.
He said: "The development will secure a significant improvement to the conservation of a feature of acknowledged importance."
The planning committee will meet on Thursday to discuss the proposals.
