TALENTED North-East band We Start Fires will host a launch party for their new single tonight.
The Darlington electro-indie-punk four-piece released Magazine, the first chart-eligible single, yesterday. BBC 6 has chosen the video as its video of the week.
The launch party begins at 8.30pm, at Darlington club Inside Out. Admission is £3, and is open to over-14s.
Becky Stefani, who fronts the band, said: "It's a really good song and it would be amazing to get into the top 40. I don't think there's ever been a Darlington band in the charts before."
The band have already been tipped for success by music magazine NME, which declared: "This slab of bubblegum metal makes a case for We Start Fires being the 'acest' band in the world."
The group, whose other members are Melissa Marx on keyboards and synths, bass player Nikki Vaughn, and drummer Ashley Wade, took their name from an episode of The Simpsons.
Their debut album is due to be released in October.
