BANNER restoration enthusiasts are holding a fair to help raise money for the project.
Esh Winning Colliery Banner Group will hold the event tomorrow, between 1.30pm and 3.30pm in the village's Woodland Road Communal Hall. Among the attractions will be a tombola and cake and bric-a-brac stalls. Admission is free.
Last year, the group commissioned a replica banner, which it paraded at the Durham Miners' Gala and is kept in the village community centre.
Work is continuing on the restoration of the original banner, which will be kept in a specially-made case in Newhouse Club.
