THE Army is investigating claims that a soldier at Catterick Barracks in North Yorkshire was sexually assaulted and the incident filmed on a mobile phone.
The Royal Military Police has launched an inquiry following a complaint made by a parent of a recruit at the training base, which currently has thousands of troops stationed in Iraq.
However, the alleged victim has refused to file an official complaint.
The Ministry of Defence confirmed an inquiry had begun but refused to comment further on the allegations.
A spokesman said: "An alleged incident recorded on a mobile phone is being investigated by the Royal Military Police.
"We are not prepared to comment on the allegations."
