CRICKETING legend Ian Botham, who has raised more than £10m for charity, is in line for a knighthood.
Newspaper reports over the weekend claimed the cricketing hero - known as Beefy to his fans - would be made a knight in the Queen's Birthday Honours List next month.
He is already an OBE and won the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Lifetime Achievement Award in 2004.
The 51-year-old, who lives near Richmond, North Yorkshire, has undergone numerous treks for charity, walking thousands of miles.
He did his first charity walk in 1985, walking from Lands End to John O'Groats and has done ten since.
Now he is in line to be rewarded for his efforts.
Botham enjoyed a 15-year test career which ended in 1992, playing 102 matches. He scored 5,200 runs and took 383 wickets and held 120 catches during his test career.
