YARM School Cricketer Scott Melville, 12, of Hilton has been celebrating a call up to the Cleveland County Cricket squad.
He received a phone call this week from the selectors, who informed him that they would like him to play at county level for the second time in successive years.
"It was a happy feeling to be chosen," said Scott, who will attend training sessions with Cleveland, while also playing cricket at school and for his club side, Maltby.
Scott clearly has the right attitude to the game, and wants to continue his cricketing development.
"Last year I was batting at number 11, but I've improved some of the shots I play and now I'm up to the middle order," says the all-rounder, who recently scored 79 not out for the Under-12s against St Martin's, Ampleforth.
For Scott, the example set by a current Durham and England player is one he intends to follow: "I like Paul Collingwood's grit and determination, he knows how to keep the runs ticking over. I want to play against better players, so the county call up is a great opportunity," he added.
