Brown's Coaches League
The League Knock Out Cup First Round match at Croft Social Club, where Shildon New Masons were the visitors produced a nail-biting finish. The matches are the aggregate scores from five darts singles, five dominoes singles and five pool singles.
Croft took the darts by the odd point when they had wins from Gordon Walker, Mike Donovan and Gary Hanson against the Masons winners, Brian Hardy and Martin Taylor. The home side also took the dominoes by the odd point when they wins from Alan Townsend, Paul Futter and Gary Plews against the wins from Barry Harwood and Brian Hardy.
However, Shildon New Masons edged through to the next round by taking the deciding pool match after Gordon Walker had won for Croft but Barry Thexton, Paul Frame and Martin Taylor had levelled the overall scores. In the decider Shildon's Barry Harwood beat Alan Townsend to send his team into the second round.
Darts section champions, Willington New Inn were well beaten by the visiting Ushaw Moor Catholic Club.
Paul Knighton, Martin Farmer and Craig Fleming put the home side ahead in the darts but the visitors did well to close the gap when Gary Richardson beat Kevin Hill and Ian Toase beat Jamie Thompson. This inspired Ushaw Moor to only drop one more point when Davy Gallagher won at dominoes for the New Inn.
