THE new golf season for Woodham Juniors is now well under way, but it's not the results that are most pleasing so far, it's the fact that they have been supported by a generous sponsor.
Mr Dave Allen, of Dave Allen Fireplaces in Spennymoor, kindly donated funds to provide the team with polo shirts, complete with club and sponsors logo.
This gesture is greatly appreciated by the Junior golfers and contributes greatly to the excellent team spirit within the section.
The team played their first League fixture of the season on May 8 at Darlington DC but the scores were not quite as impressive as their brand new shirts.
All players gave their best on the night, but they came up against some excellent golf from a very strong Darlington team who won the match 8-2.
David Burn saved the Woodham blushes by winning his match against Darlington Junior Captain Mark Thompson, ensuring that a whitewash was avoided.
Results: Easter Egg Comp: 1st Steven Burn, 2nd Matthew Cowey, 3rd David Kelly.
Toyota Rosebowl: 1st Jack Smith, 2nd Matthew Cowey, 3rd Connor Ratton.
U13s 9 Hole Stableford: 1st Andrew Shaw, 2nd James Oliver, 3rd Sam Currie.
